Abstract

The low ability of students in writing the poem is due to the ineffectiveness of learning created by teachers. The ineffectiveness is caused by the lack of precisely the strategies that teachers apply in learning. This study aims to reveal the effect of contextual-based learning method is very necessary for professional teachers. This research uses action research for three rounds. Each round consists of four stages: design, activity and observation, reflection, and revision. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that the problem-based learning has positive impact in improving student's learning achievement which is marked by the improvement of students' learning mastery in every cycle, that is cycle I (36,36%), cycle II (77,27%) and cycle III (86.36%). Implementation of problem-based learning method has a positive influence, that is can improve student's learning motivation which is shown by result of interview with some student, mean of student's answer stated that student interested and interested with problem-based learning method so that they become motivated to learn.
