Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of discovery learning model on Students mathematical communication ability of class VIII MTs Bahrul Ulum. This research was Quasi Experiment research with Posttest Only Control Group Design. The population in this study was students of class VIII MTs Bahrul Ulum with a sample of class VIII A and class VIII B. The sample class was obtained using a saturated sample technique. In the experimental class applied learning model of discovery learning and control class applied conventional learning. The instrument of this research was a description of the ability of mathematicalcommunication and to obtain a good instrument then performed the analysis of the instrument of validity, distinguishing power, the level of difficulty and reliability. Data posttest mathematical communication ability obtained by data analysis to test hypothesis. Before the first hypothesis test was done prerequisite test was the normality test with lilliefors test which the results of both sampling classes was normally distributed and homogeneity test using F test that the results of both classes of samples have a homogeneous variance. Then tested hypothesis using t test, calculation result obtained tcount> ttable that is 5, 7437> 1, 9917 for α = 0, 05 then H0 refused. So it was concluded that there was influence of discovery learning model to student mathematical communication ability of class VIII MTs Bahrul Ulum.
