Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of  inquiry learning model  to understanding mathematical concepts seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Rambah in the academic year 2016 / 2017. Type quasi-experimental research, the design used Two-Group Posstest Only Design. The population in this study were students of class VII SMP Negeri 8 Rambah consisting of two classes. Selection of the sample used simple random sampling technique. The instrument the used are essay question tested  has been validity, distinguishing, level of dificulty, and reliability. Math student learning outcomes data or posttest results were analyzed using t-test, after test for normality and homogeneity. From the analysis of data to test the hypothesis t = 3,393 and for the table = 2.011. So to test the hypothesis thitung> ttabel reject H0 and accept H1 means it can be concluded that there are effects of the application of inquiry learning model  to understanding mathematical concepts seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Rambah in the academic year 2016 / 2017.
