Abstract

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women with an estimated 570,000 new cases in 2018 and represents 6.6% of all cancers in women. About 90% of cervical cancer deaths occur in low and middle income countries. The high mortality rate from cervical cancer globally can be reduced through a preventive approach, early diagnosis, effective screening and treatment programs (WHO, 2018). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education on knowledge about early detection of cervical cancer PKK Rambah Hillir Village. This research type is pre-experimental with one group pre-post test design. The population in this study were all active PKK cadres in Rambah Hilir Village, namely 32 people. The sampling technique in this study used a saturated sampling technique, namely that the entire population was sampled by 32 people. The results showed that the average respondent's knowledge after being given health education increased to 13.34 compared to the knowledge before being given health education, namely 7.97. It is hoped that with this research, health education on the IVA TEST program can be included in the PKK program regularly in order to increase public awareness in cervical prevention.
